Kakutani et al. (2018) conducted a cohort in Heart Failure (n=295). High respiratory exchange ratio (≥0.97) at anaerobic threshold workload vs. Low respiratory exchange ratio (<0.97) at anaerobic threshold workload was evaluated on Composite of all-cause death and readmission due to worsening heart failure (p=0.01). Heart failure patients with a high respiratory exchange ratio (≥0.97) at anaerobic threshold workload had significantly higher rates of all-cause mortality and HF readmission (29% vs. 15%).
