Objective. To analyze Regulation (EU) 576/2013 as the European legal framework for non-commercialmovement of dogs, cats and ferrets between Member States and from third countries, its country-of-origincategories, and applicable differential requirements. Results. The Regulation establishes three categorieswith progressive requirements: Part 1 (recognized equivalence), Part 2 (reinforced requirements withserology) and unlisted countries (maximum requirements with potential quarantine). Peru falls in the mostdemanding category: ISO microchip, complete primary rabies vaccination, RFFIT/FAVN ≥0.5 IU/mL andthree-month post-serology waiting period. Conclusion.
