ECMO manages cardiogenic shock and severe LV hypokinesis in a pregnant woman after cardiac arrest.
This case report describes the presentation and management of a 26-year-old pregnant woman with cardiogenic shock and ventricular tachycardia requiring ECMO.
May support ECMO feasibility in peripartum cardiogenic shock; hypothesis-generating and leaves open prospective validation.
A 26-year-old pregnant woman presented at 32 weeks of gestation with cardiogenic shock after cardiac arrest. The troponin T level was markedly elevated, an electrocardiogram showed right bundle-branch block, and echocardiography revealed severe left ventricular hypokinesis. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation was performed. A diagnosis and management decisions were made.
