Randomized trial shows the dating of oak timbers in Burnley, supporting historic documentation.
Scientific dating of historic timbers Tree-ring analysis was undertaken on core samples from 18 timbers of this barn, resulting in the dating of 12 beams. These have been dated to the end of the sixteenth century/early seventeenth century, providing independent dating evidence to support the previous documented date for the barn of c. AD 1605. Two further site sequences are undated.
