Bisoprolol plus nifedipine improves blood pressure and clinical efficacy over nifedipine alone in diastolic hypertension.
Why the study?
To evaluate the efficacy and value of combining bisoprolol fumarate tablets with nifedipine controlled-release tablets for the treatment of diastolic hypertension.
Does bisoprolol combined with nifedipine improve clinical efficacy and blood pressure control in patients with diastolic hypertension compared to nifedipine alone?
RCT (n=90)

Does bisoprolol combined with nifedipine improve clinical efficacy and blood pressure control in patients with diastolic hypertension compared to nifedipine alone?
p-value: p=<0.05
Combining bisoprolol with nifedipine provides superior blood pressure control, endothelial function improvement, and oxidative stress reduction in diastolic hypertension compared to nifedipine monotherapy.
Supports adding bisoprolol to nifedipine for diastolic hypertension; extends RCT evidence for this combination.

Zaizhong GAO (2026) conducted an RCT in Diastolic hypertension (n=90). Bisoprolol fumarate combined with nifedipine controlled-release tablets vs. Nifedipine controlled-release tablets was evaluated on Total clinical effective rate (p=<0.05). Bisoprolol fumarate combined with nifedipine significantly improved total clinical efficacy and blood pressure compared to nifedipine alone in patients with diastolic hypertension (P<0.05).
