Cost-effective ECG system enables multi-patient cardiac monitoring using 40 electrodes and an STM32 controller.
Why the study?
There was a need for a cost-effective system to monitor multiple patients' cardiac activity by acquiring multi-channel ECG signals.
The study presents a cost-effective, multi-channel ECG acquisition system capable of monitoring multiple patients simultaneously.
May facilitate scalable low-cost multi-patient ECG monitoring; leaves open clinical validation before practice adoption.
This study describes a cost-effective system for monitoring multiple patients' cardiac activity by collecting ECG signals from various body surfaces. It employs 40 Ag-AgC1 sintered electrodes connected to a device that selects multiple channels of ECG signals. These signals, due to their low amplitude, are amplified approximately 100,000 times through a series of three amplifiers and two 50 Hz band rejection circuits to reach volt level for clear observation. An embedded STM32 controller chip enhances the system's affordability by enabling the switching between 40 channels. The targeted ECG signal is then transmitted to a host computer via serial port or Bluetooth for analysis, offering a low-cost solution for multi-patient cardiac monitoring.
