Review highlights the difficulty of establishing causal links between anticancer therapies and cardiac arrhythmias.
Why the study?
The incidence of cardiac arrhythmias in cancer patients is not fully established, and establishing a causal link with anticancer drugs presents difficulties.
This review summarizes current data on the incidence and clinical course of cardiac arrhythmias as a manifestation of cardiotoxicity in patients receiving anticancer therapy.
Challenges in causal attribution of arrhythmias to anticancer therapy warrant cautious monitoring; leaves open need for prospective cardio-oncology studies.
Cardiotoxicity is a widespread complication of anticancer therapy. One of the most difficult manifestations of cardiotoxicity is cardiac arrhythmias. The incidence of arrhythmias in cancer patients has not been fully established because most studies had insufficient number of patients. Establishing a causal relationship between anticancer drugs and specific arrhythmias also presents certain difficulties. The purpose of this review is to analyze the modern data on the incidence and clinical course of arrhythmias in patients taking anticancer therapy.

Potievskaya et al. (2020) conducted a review in Cardiac arrhythmias in cancer patients. Anticancer therapy was evaluated on Incidence and clinical course of arrhythmias. This review analyzes modern data on the incidence and clinical course of cardiac arrhythmias in patients receiving anticancer therapy, highlighting the difficulty in establishing causal relationships.
