Alerts clinicians to excess MI fatality risk in young black men with hypertension; extends evidence of persistent racial mortality gaps.
Do myocardial infarction incidence and case fatality differ between black and white men with well-controlled hypertension?
Young black men with well-controlled hypertension have a lower incidence of myocardial infarction but a significantly higher case fatality rate compared to white men, which is associated with higher rates of diabetes, smoking, and fewer revascularizations.
