Plasma total cholesterol after 10 weeks was 2012 ± 115 mg/dl in PN 200110-treated rabbits versus 2140 ± 116 mg/dl in placebo controls.
PN 200110 treatment significantly decreased intimal lesion area (36 ± 5% vs. 52 ± 5%, P < 0.03) and aortic cholesterol concentration (52 ± 3 vs. 72 ± 6 mg/g protein, P < 0.03).
Endothelium-dependent cholinergic relaxation was significantly preserved with PN 200110 at 61 ± 7% of normocholesterolemic control levels compared to 31 ± 4% in untreated cholesterol-fed controls (P < 0.01).
