Unobtrusive observations of 592 shoppers involved in 867 interactions with bulk food bins were made in 14 supermarkets. Frequent problem behaviors included hand use to retrieve products and snacking. Correlational analysis suggests that the two problems are related and concern the in-store consumption of snack items.
