205 patients undergoing a first percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA)

Fish oil supplements (15 capsules per day containing 1 g of fish oil, yielding 2.7 g/day of eicosapentaenoic acid and 1.8 g/day of docosahexaenoic acid), started 3 weeks before PTCA and continued for 6 months thereafter

Olive oil supplements (15 capsules per day containing 1 g of olive oil), started 3 weeks before PTCA and continued for 6 months thereafter
