In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the association between metabolic syndrome (MS), chronic kidney disease (CKD), and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Early recognition of this relationship is important for the prognosis of patients with NAFLD and CKD. In addition to early diagnosis, accurate assessment of renal function plays a pivotal role in clinical practice. The aim of this review is to present the epidemiology and pathophysiological relationship of MS with NAFLD and CKD while providing insights into various methods for assessing renal function in NAFLD patients.
