Why the study?
Patients with EGFR mutation-positive advanced non-small-cell lung cancer have improved long-term survival warranting aggressive treatment of complications, but valve replacement under extracorporeal circulation for concomitant valvular disease during pharmacotherapy had not been reported.
Aggressive surgical and interventional treatment of cardiovascular complications in patients with advanced EGFR mutation-positive lung cancer on targeted therapy can yield long-term survival.
May support aggressive CV intervention during EGFR-TKI therapy in select cases; single report leaves generalizability open.
