Intracardiac electrogram analysis using template matching methods yields non-normal distributions, requiring nonparametric tolerance intervals for discriminating ventricular tachycardia.
Why the study?
Do morphological analysis methods (Correlation Waveform Analysis, Bin Area Method, Derivative Area Method) accurately discriminate ventricular electrograms during VT from those during SR/AF?
Do morphological analysis methods (Correlation Waveform Analysis, Bin Area Method, Derivative Area Method) accurately discriminate ventricular electrograms during VT from those during SR/AF?
Morphological analysis of intracardiac electrograms for VT detection yields non-Gaussian distributions, necessitating nonparametric statistical methods for performance evaluation.
Nonparametric tolerance intervals are required to evaluate morphological VT discriminators; leaves open prospective validation in device algorithms.
To improve over rate based algorithms for detection of pathological tachycardias by implantable antitachycardia devices, techniques based on morphological differences in ventricular electrograms during sinus rhythm or atrial fibrillation (SR/AF) and ventricular tachycardia (VT) have been proposed. Examined are the results of three proposed methods of intracardiac electrogram analysis for discriminating ventricular electrograms during VT from those during SR/AF: Correlation Waveform Analysis, the Bin Area Method, and the Derivative Area Method. It is demonstrated that the distribution of derived values from intracardiac analysis using these algorithms is not generally a normal (Gaussian) distribution. Nonparametric tolerance intervals are used to evaluate the performance of these algorithms in discriminating ventricular electrograms during VT from those during SR/AF.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>

Throne et al. (2002) studied Ventricular tachycardia. Template matching methods (Correlation Waveform Analysis, Bin Area Method, Derivative Area Method) was evaluated on Discrimination of ventricular electrograms during VT from those during SR/AF. Intracardiac electrogram analysis using template matching methods yields non-normal distributions, requiring nonparametric tolerance intervals for discriminating ventricular tachycardia.
