Shaker-related potassium channel, Kv1.4, mRNA regulation in cultured rat heart myocytes and differential expression of Kv1.4 and Kv1.5 genes in myocardial development and hypertrophy.

Cultured neonatal rat ventricular myocytes (from Wistar rats 1-3 days after birth), male spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) at 17, 20, and 24 weeks, age-matched male Wistar Kyoto (WKY) rats, and two-kidney, one-clip renovascular hypertensive rats (2K1C RHR) produced in 4-week-old male Wistar rats.

In vitro: stimulation with high KCl (50 mM), BAY-K 8644 (0.5 µM), or 12-O-tetradecanoyl phorbol-13-acetate (TPA, 1 µM). In vivo: myocardial hypertrophy models (SHR and 2K1C RHR).

In vitro: unstimulated cells. In vivo: normotensive WKY rats and sham-operated rats.
