Case report highlights diagnostic features of a rare retinal lesion, suggesting importance in recognizing and monitoring it.
Here, we present a case of congenital simple hamartoma of the retinal pigment epithelium (CSHRPE), an uncommon benign lesion of the retinal pigment epithelium characterized by a nodular, hyperpigmented appearance in the macular region. This case report highlights the diagnostic features of CSHRPE observed through multimodal imaging, discusses differential diagnoses, and reviews relevant literature. The case report underscores the importance of recognizing this rare entity to prevent misdiagnosis and unnecessary intervention, while emphasizing the value of longitudinal monitoring using high-resolution imaging modalities.
