This case report aims to highlight a rare urinary tract infection caused by Burkholderia cenocepacia in a newborn.
Cytobacteriological examination of urine was performed to identify the pathogen.
Identification was confirmed using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF).
The isolate's antibiotic susceptibility was also assessed.
Burkholderia cenocepacia was confirmed as the cause of urinary tract infection.
The isolate was only susceptible to sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim.
The patient unfortunately died before receiving targeted antibiotic therapy.
