Archaeological evaluation identifies features from the Bronze Age to Saxon periods in Windsor, indicating ongoing historical significance.
In total of 155 trenches were opened mechanically under archaeological supervision and archaeological features investigated by hand. Widespread features primarily of Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age and Early to Middle Saxon dates were identified across most of the site. A large number of features could not be dated but (based on the rarity of any later finds) it is suspected many of these may also be prehistoric or Saxon.
