Experimental analysis reports design and performance of a frequency-reconfigurable antenna for multiband applications, suggesting efficient solutions for modern communication systems.
This paper reports the design and experimental verification of a new compact frequency‐reconfigurable elliptical patch antenna with 11 working frequency bands (20 × 15 mm 2 ). The presented antenna uses a single PIN diode and 10 surrounding strips to obtain configuration over Ku‐band and millimeter‐wave bands. The design evolves through three stages incorporating resonators and diode switching. A maximum bandwidth of 3.3 GHz is achieved, with consistent gain ranging from 4.57 to 5.14 dBi. The proposed antenna offers a compact, low‐complexity solution for multiband applications including radar, satellite communication, and 5G millimeter‐wave systems.
