Abstract The article comments on the opportunities for accounting education research in the U.S. There has been growing dissatisfaction with the scope and effectiveness of accounting education over the last decade. People are witnessing the birth of a revolution in accounting education. There is a need for accounting educators to nurture the personal qualities and skills necessary to be effective professional accountants. As a consequence, opportunities for high quality research in accounting education have been greater. The concerns specific to research in accounting education include surveys of existing educational practice or opinions that are often problematic.
