Shows enhanced performance of UWB antennas for WiMAX applications, suggesting better integration in wireless systems.
This paper presents an electrically compact UWB antenna with notch characteristics. A truncated ground plane is used to match the impedance at target resonance frequencies. The engineered complementary split-ring resonator arrays are utilized to have a wideband (2.53 GHz −5.87 GHz) notch at the WiMAX band. The slits of the resonator are optimized to cover the targeted WiMAX band. The antenna size is 30 × 40 x 1.6 mm 3 which is built on FR-4 substrate. There is a good correlation between simulated and measured results. The Antenna presents its application in essential requirements of the ISM band and WLAN band. Performance parameters of the design, such as group latency, radiation pattern, and return loss, are evaluated to confirm its suitability for UWB applications when WiMAX systems are present. This work advances the practical application of UWB technology in contemporary wireless communication systems by improving the coexistence capability of UWB antennas with WiMAX networks.
