Aplastic anemia is a rare disease of the hematopoietic system characterized by suppression of all hematopoietic growths and replacement of bone marrow with fatty tissue. Annual incidence is 2—3 cases per 1 million people in Europe and America, 7—9 cases per 1 million people in East Asia. More than 300 patients with aplastic anemia were registered In Russia, and its prevalence is 0.7—4.1 per 1 million people. The highest incidence of disease occurs at the age of 10—25 years, as well as in persons older 60 years. In most cases (about 80%), etiology of disease is unknown. Acquired forms significantly predominate over congenital forms. Medications, viral infections, and other factors are possible triggers.
