Explores community memories after the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake, indicating their role in recovery.
This study explores community memories in the affected areas of the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake through the “Town of Memories Workshop” in Suzu-Jike, Nanao-Misogi, and Noto-Ogi. Residents’ testimonies were analyzed using text mining and co-occurrence networks. The analysis identified five categories of memory: “Disaster”, “Nature”, “Community hubs”, “Festivals”, and “Life history”, divided into collective and personal memories. Regional and generational variations were observed, showing how disaster experiences, cultural practices, and everyday life shape community identity. The findings offer insights into preserving memory and supporting recovery.
