This report demonstrates effective archival arrangement of modern architectural records in civic initiatives using the Standard Series method.
This report presents the overview and archival arrangement of the KITAZAWA TSUNEHIKO Collection. Kitazawa Tsunehiko (1934-1999), who served at Kyoto cityʼs Small and Medium Enterprise Instruction Office, was deeply engaged in civic activities and writing. His collection includes project records in his work, documentation of civic initiatives in Kyoto from the 1970s to 1990s. The “Standard Series” method―originally developed for arranging professor-architects’ records―is referred to organize the collection by activity units. This simply reflects the matching of these records with Kitazawa’s activities. The case demonstrates that activity-based archival arrangement effectively preserves and enhances access to modern architectural and urban records.
