Confirms effectiveness of CFRP and urethane foam in buckling restraint braces, suggesting improved construction efficiency.
This paper proposes the reinforcement method of existing vertical braces by applying the buckling restrained brace (BRB) utilizing carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) and urethane foam as buckling restraint materials. This proposed method allows buckling restraint materials to significantly reduce its weight and improve construction workability. In this study, the effectiveness of this method is confirmed through static incremental repeated loading tests and replication analysis using finite element method (FEM) on the designed specimens.
