Against the Neoclassical Compatibility of Intervention and Physical Laws

In response to arguments based on Newtonian physics regarding the compatibility of intervention (particularly divine action) and physical laws, the energy conservation law is often considered as a criticism. Jeffrey Koperski, in the framework known as neoclassical, attempts to re-explain this compatibility by distinguishing between “nonnomic conditions” and “physical laws” and defends his viewpoint against the mentioned criticism. In this paper, I focus on the physical aspect rather than the theological one, and I will argue that the neoclassical framework fails to achieve Koperski's purpose.
