Randomized trial applies WCM-PL diagnostic pipeline to solar flare catalogs, confirming artifact independence.
We apply the WCM-PL diagnostic pipeline — developed and hardened earlier the same day on an earthquake catalog (JMA, N=1,328,254, Tohoku region) — to an independent domain, solar flare catalogs (GOES soft X-ray flux, Plutino et al. 2022 detection algorithm, N=358,885 flares, 1986-2023), without modifying the method. The E8Sensor same-sign-vertex normalization artifact discovered on earthquake inter-event gaps reproduces on solar-flare data to four decimal places (cosD=0.9354) across three independent physical axes, confirming it is a domain-independent mathematical artifact. Genuine, robust clustering signal survives rank normalization and windowed-shuffle null testing, and is stable across four solar cycles. A direct D5Sensor five-axis embedding shows solar flares are intensity/duration-dominated — the qualitative inverse of earthquakes' spatial dominance — consistent with the differing physical mechanisms (fault geometry vs. local magnetic reconnection). See attached PDF for full results (Findings R-1 through R-5). Note: the GitHub repository (cds-polytope) is at an earlier version (v1.0).The WCM-PL v1.5 code used in this paper is included as supplementary files above.
