Key result
In patients with dual AV nodal pathways, the induction of atrioventricular nodal reentry or atrial echoes by premature atrial stimulation required good retrograde ventriculo-atrial conduction (shortest VACL 1-1 <460 msec) and sufficient antegrade conduction delay.
Why the study?
What are the electrophysiological determinants for the induction of atrioventricular nodal reentry using premature atrial stimulation in patients with dual AV nodal pathways?

What are the electrophysiological determinants for the induction of atrioventricular nodal reentry using premature atrial stimulation in patients with dual AV nodal pathways?
Sustained AVNRT induction requires both good retrograde VA conduction and good antegrade AV conduction.

Kubota et al. (1985) conducted an observational in Dual atrioventricular nodal pathways (DAVNP) (n=45). Premature atrial stimulation vs. Patients without induced AVNRT or atrial echoes (Group C) was evaluated on Shortest cycle length with 1:1 ventriculo-atrial conduction (Shortest VACL 1-1) in patients with induced AVNRT (Group A) vs neither (Group C) (p=<0.01). In patients with dual AV nodal pathways, the induction of atrioventricular nodal reentry or atrial echoes by premature atrial stimulation required good retrograde ventriculo-atrial conduction (shortest VACL 1-1 <460 msec) and sufficient antegrade conduction delay.
