Genome assembly reveals 17,532 genes and microbial diversity in Rhabdastrella globostellata, suggesting ecological interactions.
<ns5:p> We present a genome assembly from an individual <ns5:italic>Rhabdastrella globostellata</ns5:italic> (sponge; Porifera; Demospongiae; Tetractinellida; Ancorinidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 155.58 megabases. Most of the assembly (98.97%) is scaffolded into 21 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 18.12 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 17 532 protein-coding genes. From the metagenome data, we recovered 131 bins, of which 55 were high-quality MAGs, representing 19 phyla (i.e., Pseudomonadota, Chloroflexota, Acidobacteriota) and candidate phyla (including <ns5:italic>Ca.</ns5:italic> Poribacteria). </ns5:p>
