Genome sequencing reveals chromosomal structure and microbial diversity in Phyllospongia foliascens, suggesting ecological roles.
<ns5:p> We present a genome assembly from a specimen of <ns5:italic>Phyllospongia foliascens</ns5:italic> (Porifera; Demospongiae; Dictyoceratida; Thorectidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 402.95 megabases. Most of the assembly (90.14%) is scaffolded into 14 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.78 kilobases. From the metagenome data, we recovered 43 bins, of which 25 were high-quality MAGs. Most MAGs were affiliated with the Pseudomonadota (Alpha- and Gammaproteobacteria). </ns5:p>
