Introduces a new research model utilizing AI collaboration to enhance interdisciplinary knowledge creation.
Short Abstract This paper introduces the “Matsuoka × GPT Thought Experiment Lab” as a new model of knowledge creation in the AI era, defining its philosophy, principles, methodology, and operational framework. Traditional academic research has been largely confined to universities and specialized institutions, but recent advances in generative AI enable individuals to engage in high-level, interdisciplinary research through continuous collaboration with AI systems. This study conceptualizes such collaboration as “Co-Intelligence,” in which human intuition, abstraction, and question-formulation are structurally combined with AI’s capabilities in information search, integration, verification, and language generation. By positioning thought experiments as the primary research apparatus, the model enables rapid and coherent theory construction even in domains that are difficult or impossible to observe directly. The paper argues that this approach constitutes a viable prototype for future knowledge production, demonstrating how individuals can function as autonomous research units while contributing openly and sustainably to the global body of human knowledge.
