Single-neuron firing drives sympathetic overactivity in HF; extends mechanistic insights but leaves open therapeutic relevance.
In patients with congestive heart failure, the increased multiunit muscle sympathetic nerve activity at rest is driven by an increased firing frequency and probability of individual vasoconstrictor neurons, rather than multiple spikes per burst.
