MLCK phosphorylation is required for smooth muscle actin motility in vitro; leaves open relevance to human vascular regulation or disease.
This in vitro study demonstrates that phosphorylation of myosin light chain by MLCK is required for actin filament movement on smooth muscle myosin, which is further modulated by tropomyosin and caldesmon.
