Population

216 hypertensive patients (n=111 in losartan group, n=105 in captopril group)

Intervention

Addition of indomethacin (75 mg daily) for 1 week to ongoing therapy with losartan (50 mg once daily) or captopril (50 mg twice daily)

Comparator

Blood pressure before the addition of indomethacin (after 6 weeks of active antihypertensive monotherapy)

Outcome

Change in mean 24-hour ambulatory diastolic blood pressure after the addition of indomethacinsurrogate

Concurrent treatment with indomethacin similarly attenuates the 24-hour antihypertensive response to both the ARB losartan and the ACE inhibitor captopril.
