Objective To study the present situation of intraocular pressure fluctuation day and night for ordinary adult, and the risk factor of POAG. Methods A total of 258 cases (516 eyes) including ophthalmology inpatients, attendants, and healthy volunteers were performed 24-hour intraocular pressure monitoring, data of 332 ordinary eyes had statistical analysis from May 2012 to April 2015; for only one time single high intraocular pressure or intraocular pressure fluctuation amplitude was wide, further examination such as angle of anterior chamber, fundus, and visual field etc were implemented. Results In the detection of six points, each point intraocular pressure were not identical, the highest value of intraocular pressure appeared at 7:00 in the morning, 13.81±3.56 mmHg, then it began to decline, minimum value (12.77±3.42 mmHg) appeared at 23:00, again in the morning showed the trend of recovery. each point average intraocular pressure of POAG more than 18 mmHg, all-day average intraocular pressure was 20.77±9.69 mmHg, prevalence rate was 3.92% (13/332). Conclusions Intraocular pressure of 332 ordinary eyes shows a dynamic and changing day and night. Patients among them diagnosed with POAG have higher static pressure and larger intraocular pressure fluctuation, abnormal intraocular pressure fluctuation is risk factors of POAG. It could be help to set up the intraocular prssure threshold for early diagnosis of some normal-tention glaucoma.
