The voltage waveform required to drive a moving-coil transducer is the sum of a set of functions which are the integral and differentials of the desired velocity response. An approximation to such a waveform may readily be synthesized, so that negative feedback in the control of a vibrating system may be reduced to the provision of second-order corrections. In a practical system developed to provide a motion at constant acceleration for Mössbauer experiments, a relative error of 0.1% over most of the duty cycle has been achieved with an improvement in stability over previous arrangements.
