To identify the structural regulatory elements in the human von Willebrand factor A1 domain and its flanking regions that control binding to platelet glycoprotein Ib.
Generated sequential deletion mutants within the N-terminal (Cys1222–Tyr1271, Gln1238–Tyr1271, Glu1260–Tyr1271) and C-terminal (Asp1459–Asp1472) flanking regions of full-length recombinant VWF.
