Protocol for quantifying decongestant dose effects on BP; leaves open clinical recommendations pending completed evidence synthesis.
This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: Primary objective To quantify the dose‐related effects of various doses and types of selective adrenergic agonist oral decongestants on systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Secondary objectives To determine the effects of adrenergic agonist oral decongestants on variability of blood pressure. To determine the effects of adrenergic agonist oral decongestants on pulse pressure. To quantify the dose‐related effects of adrenergic agonist oral decongestants on heart rate. To quantify the effects of different doses of adrenergic agonist oral decongestants on withdrawals due to adverse events.
