Why the study?
Does higher aerobic fitness improve vagal influences on the myocardium during psychological stress and recovery in college-aged men?
Population
20 college-aged men (10 aerobically trained and 10 untrained)
Comparison
Aerobically trained status vs Untrained status

Longer heart periods during stress in fit men not mediated by RSA; hypothesis-generating for autonomic effects and should not change practice.
Does higher aerobic fitness improve vagal influences on the myocardium during psychological stress and recovery in college-aged men?
Higher aerobic fitness is associated with longer heart periods during rest and psychological stress, but this difference does not appear to be directly mediated by vagal mechanisms as measured by respiratory sinus arrhythmia.
