Spontaneous poliovirus clearance may occur without salivary antibodies after Salk vaccination in hypogammaglobulinaemia; leaves open mechanisms of mucosal immunity.
A patient with common variable hypogammaglobulinaemia had prolonged excretion of poliovirus that ceased spontaneously despite failure of the killed Salk vaccine to stimulate antibodies.
