Randomized trial examines the effects of job stress, digital culture, and work-life balance on employee creativity in banking, suggesting important managerial implications.
Purpose This study aims to investigate the influence of job stress, digital culture and work-life balance (WLB) on employee creativity and performance in the Indonesian banking sector. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected via questionnaires from 165 employees at a state-owned bank in Indonesia. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling–partial least squares. Findings The results reveal that job stress has a positive and significant impact on both employee creativity and performance. WLB positively influences creativity and performance, emerging as the dominant predictor. In contrast, digital culture has no significant effect on either employee creativity or performance. In addition, employee creativity makes a substantial positive contribution to improved performance. Originality/value This study contributes to the literature by highlighting that job stress, when managed constructively, can enhance employee creativity and performance. It also highlights the critical role of WLB in driving creativity and productivity.
