Why the study?
Do anti-platelet agents (ticlopidine or aspirin) affect platelet aggregability and does plasma fibrinogen concentration correlate with their action in patients with cerebral thrombosis?
Do anti-platelet agents (ticlopidine or aspirin) affect platelet aggregability and does plasma fibrinogen concentration correlate with their action in patients with cerebral thrombosis?
Ticlopidine and aspirin inhibit different pathways of platelet aggregation, and ticlopidine's efficacy is attenuated by higher fibrinogen levels in patients with cerebral thrombosis.
Differential inhibition may inform agent selection in cerebral thrombosis; leaves open fibrinogen modulation for randomized confirmation.
