A modified double dye injection method using PA and PW curves yields comparable pulmonary blood volumes to PA and LA curves in a canine model.
Supports less invasive pulmonary volume estimation in animal models; leaves open translation to clinical cardiovascular research.
Arterial dye dilution curves after injection of cardiogreen into the pulmonary artery (PA), the pulmonary wedge position (PW), and the left atrium (LA) were recorded in six closed-chest anaesthetized dogs. Pulmonary mean transit times computed from PA and PW or from PA and LA curves were comparable and yielded comparable pulmonary blood volumes.
