Spinal A5 noradrenergic projections may facilitate the carotid sympathetic chemoreflex in rats; leaves open norepinephrine mediation of sympathoactivation.
The results suggest that A5 noradrenergic neurons and their spinal cord projections may play a facilitating role in the carotid sympathetic chemoreflex, though clear evidence of selective sympathoactivation via norepinephrine release in the spinal cord was not obtained.
