This strategic volume outlines new architectural shifts for artificial general intelligence, highlighting future capabilities.
This repository contains V7 of the CAA-X (Cognitive Atom Architecture eXtension) research program, subtitled "Future Architectures and the K4–K5 Roadmap: Beyond Current Paradigms." V7 is the prospective and strategic volume of the CAA-X program. While V0–V6 established and extended the current framework, V7 looks ahead — identifying the architectural frontiers (K4 and K5) that will define the next generation of artificial general intelligence. It functions simultaneously as a research roadmap, a technology forecast, and a strategic position paper. Core ThesisThe K4–K5 roadmap proposes two sequential paradigm shifts beyond the current CAA-X architecture: K4 — Recursive Self-Improvement Layer: A meta-cognitive architecture where the λ-order-parameter itself becomes subject to optimization by a higher-order "meta-λ" controller. This enables the system to learn not just what to think, but how to allocate its own cognitive resources — a step toward genuine cognitive autonomy. K5 — Collective Cognition Protocol: Extension of the GWP protocol from intra-system atomic communication to inter-system collective intelligence. Specification of swarm cognition, federated world models, and consensus-based intention fields — enabling multiple CAA-X instances to form a "super-cognitive" network without centralized control. Key Contributions- Meta-λ Formalism: Mathematical specification of recursive self-improvement through fixed-point iteration on the λ-order-parameter, with convergence proofs and stability bounds.- K4 Architecture Blueprint: Detailed system design for the recursive layer, including the Meta-Cognitive Scheduler, the Self-Model Atom, and the Experience Replay Compressor.- K5 Collective Protocol: GWP-C (Collective) specification — message passing, consensus algorithms, and emergent group intention fields for multi-agent CAA-X networks.- Technology Roadmap: Timeline and milestone specification for K4 (2028–2030) and K5 (2030–2035) development, with identified bottlenecks (compute, verification, safety) and mitigation strategies.- Strategic Positioning: Analysis of CAA-X's competitive landscape vis-à-vis anticipated industry architectures (e.g., next-generation multimodal foundation models, neuromorphic computing, quantum-classical hybrid systems). Relationship to Prior VersionsV0–V6 built the present. V7 imagines the future. It is explicitly forward-looking and speculative where necessary, but grounded in the formal apparatus established across prior versions. It serves as both a research agenda for the CAA-X program and a contribution to the broader AGI roadmap discourse. Citation & ContextPart of the CAA-X versioned research program. See V0–V2 foundational collection (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.21835958) for the complete theoretical basis upon which K4–K5 are constructed.
