Does treatment with methyldopa and bendrofluazide alter blood lipids in patients with previously untreated essential hypertension?
Treatment with methyldopa and bendrofluazide does not significantly alter blood lipids in patients with essential hypertension over 5.25 months.
Answers are grounded in this paper and cite their sources.
May not affect lipids in essential hypertension; hypothesis-generating and should not change practice without further study.
Summary The blood lipids of eight patients with previously untreated essential hypertension have been studied before and after treatment with methyldopa and bendrofluazide. No significant change was found in any of the measurements over a mean treatment period of 5·25 months. These results are believed to provide evidence that hypotensive therapy does not predispose to the development of ischaemic heart disease.
