Satellite cell depletion blocks overload hypertrophy in rodent EDL; leaves open necessity in human muscle adaptation or cardiac remodeling.
Satellite cell proliferation is required for muscle hypertrophy induced by synergist incapacitation, but not for maintaining or changing normal muscle fiber myosin heavy chain phenotype expression.
