Population

45 patients with non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and single-vessel disease undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Mean age ~58 years.

Intervention

Trimetazidine 60 mg oral loading dose just prior to PCI, followed by 60 mg daily (20 mg three times daily) for one month, added to conventional therapy.

Comparator

Conventional therapy alone (no trimetazidine).

Outcome

Short-term left ventricular functions (LVEF, LVEDV, MPI) and plasma brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels at 1 and 30 days after PCI.surrogate
