Polarization measurements have been made on CaF 2 using cells of the type Ca ‐ Pb 1 CaF 2 s Fe s I x Ca = 0.9 and Fe s CaF 2 s Ca ‐ Bi 1 II x Ca = 0.25 Steady‐state values of the currents at various applied voltages yielded the electronic conductivity in CaF 2 as a function of calcium activity. Results are presented between 800° and 950°C. The experimental arrangement is described and appropriate equations are presented. Values of the transference number of ions are given as a function of temperature and the activity of Ca in CaF 2 .
