Why the study?
To investigate the effect of using elastic socks on hemodynamic changes and ephedrine intake in elective cesarean section under spinal anesthesia.
Does elastic stocking improve hemodynamic changes and reduce ephedrine intake in pregnant women undergoing elective cesarean section under spinal anesthesia?
Does elastic stocking improve hemodynamic changes and reduce ephedrine intake in pregnant women undergoing elective cesarean section under spinal anesthesia?
The use of elastic stockings during elective cesarean section under spinal anesthesia did not result in significant hemodynamic changes or differences in ephedrine intake, though the study was limited by a small sample size.
Answers are grounded in this paper and cite their sources.
Small RCT shows no hemodynamic benefit from elastic stockings in spinal cesarean; does not alter practice and warrants larger trials.
Background: To investigate the effect of using elastic socks on hemodynamic changes and ephedrine intake in elective cesarean section under spinal anesthesia in Bu Ali Hospital. Materials and methods: Randomized double-blind clinical trial, Participants at (XX) Hospital including entry and exit conditions. Single pregnant women and gestational age over 37 weeks Candidate for elective cesarean section under spinal anesthesia referred to (XX) Hospital in, Patients with consent to participate in the project, age 18 and over, gestational age over 37 Weeks–41 weeks, single, ASA class I & II are selected in a simple non-random way. Results: The intervention group covers the elastic socks that cover the waist to the middle of the thigh, and the pregnant women in the normal socks control group that covers the waist to the middle of the thigh. Main outcome measures: maternal blood pressure, mother's heart rate, umbilical vein gas analysis, ephedrine intake. In the event of a complication, the type of complication is also recorded. Conclusions: Due to small sample size, we were unable to report any significant changes following the use of elastic stocking during cesarean section. Highlights:
